High school football power: “St Thomas Aquinas Football” will play at DeLand

Class 7A Aquinas tied a Jacksonville Bolles state record when it won its 11th state championship. Class 8A DeLand (2-2) was open to the possibility of playing.

Lance Jenkins, Bulldogs’ athletic director, said that it is rare to find a national team in a small town such as DeLand. “I believe it’s going be a huge success for our region.”

With 11 ex-players on the NFL rosters, this storied team leads again. For eight consecutive NFL seasons, the Raiders have been at the top of that list.

Jenkins stated that neither Jenkins nor Jenkins liked the idea of playing together and then returning to play a few weeks later.

The Florida High School Athletic Association decided the state playoff brackets last week, following a computerized blind drawing.

Max Preps reports that Aquinas only has four regular season games left — all against undefeated opponents. It hosts Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons (1-1), and faces Plantation American Heritage (3-1) on Oct. 23.

This will be the first time Aquinas have visited Central Florida since 1973, when it was at Cocoa Beach.

Former NFL defensive lineman Jason Taylor is the group’s director. He has already intercepted five passes and is giving up only 10 points per game.

Oronde Gadsden, a three-star Syracuse wide st thomas aquinas football receiver, is American Heritage’s top offensive player. Many schools have offered Mark Fletcher, a 2023 four-star runningback, to many schools. Vinson Davis, a three-star athlete, may be the next slot receiver.
